Signal Transduction Pathways | Insulin Release and Glycogenesis

This will be the first in a series of blog posts (of at least 4–5) where I will go into detail about particular signal transduction pathways, in which the body regulates certain metabolites depending on physiological need (eg. blood glucose, storage, immune response, etc.) This first post will focus on the Receptor Tyrosine Kinase Pathway for Insulin and Glucose Storage Regulation. PDF: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WeCG5aGb2tus0eZjhKO1obxbmyStmaPT/view?usp=sharing A major aspect of these signal transduction pathways is the apparent cross-talk between pathways, leading to greatly amplified effects to even unintended pathways for a complex, yet versatile physiological response to the need or in presence of excess of certain compounds (primarily sugar and infectious compounds). The second of these posts will focus more on the general usage of Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTKs) with the Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Pathway, a hallmark pathway in Oncological studies. Note: This will be updated with Drugs, Inhibitors, and Diseases focusing on Insulin release, PI3K/Akt Transduction, and Glycogen Storage Diseases (a biggy for the USMLE as taught by Dr. Jonklaas for his CHE 4342 sections)!
