Signal Transduction Pathways | Insulin Release and Glycogenesis
This will be the first in a series of blog posts (of at least 4–5) where I will go into detail about particular signal transduction pathways, in which the body regulates certain metabolites depending on physiological need (eg. blood glucose, storage, immune response, etc.) This first post will focus on the Receptor Tyrosine Kinase Pathway for Insulin and Glucose Storage Regulation. Fatty Acid Synthesis and Beta Oxidation | Biochemistry MCAT
Following Sugar Metabolism, a common pathway taught and used by the body (especially in instances where sugar is lacking), fats are used to produce energy via Beta Oxidation, or to store much more energy than sugars can via glycogen, fatty acids and triglycerides can be formed.. Below shows the set up stage for Beta Oxidation, and the second photo shows my notes for both FA Synthesis and FA Oxidation!

The Kreb's Cycle (and Pyruvate Oxidation and the Electron Transport Chain) | Biochemistry MCAT
This blog continues off of my Glycolysis post as these reactions follow the formation Pyruvate into Acetyl Coa using Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex (PDC), and then the TCA, and finally the Electron Transport Chain. This is the PDF link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NX7GXfN5mqzxlm1h7Rbkwvm_q_ICqtCi/view?usp=sharing Pyruvate Oxidation: Below is the reaction mechanism using PDC, Thiamine Diphosphate (ThDP), NAD+, FAD, and Lipoamide. These reactions are also taught in Soderbe

Glycolysis, Gluconeogenesis and Pentose Phosphate Pathway | Biochemistry MCAT
With the MCAT and General Biochemistry Courses, a major topic that they cover is Glycolysis, Gluconeogenesis, and the Pentose Phosphate Pathway. The following PDF covers my notes on the three pathways and the differences, as well as similarities between them. As always, there is an emphasis on regular organic structures rather than fischer projections. Personally, I find it easier to conceptualize the organic structure, but I'll put an image below to show the distinction betw

RNA and DNA Anabolism and Catabolism
A major part of DNA synthesis and breakdown is the usage of key amino acids as well as the necessity of energy maintenance (like ATP equivalents); the following PDF shows in detail the metabolic pathways for De Novo Purine and Pyrimidine Biosynthesis and the Catabolism of these nucleic acids, as well as the conversion from RNA to DNA using Ribonucleotide Reductase (RNR)!!! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mnZEPuJKw_rYVbVybedKyPeRquOh4foz?usp=sharing

DNA Repair Pathways and Sequencing
A crucial aspect of DNA replication is Repair Pathways; they correct errors in replication and can help prevent heritable diseases through the means of CRISPR-cas9 system. In this 30 page PDF, I go over different webinars and lecture material that explain epigenetic modifications that modify DNA to repair mistaken replication errors, and other sources like Khan Academy which note sequencing methods both classic and modern. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Qy-6At9PZDeZbDCUfEa

DNA Transcription, Translation and RNA Processing
After completing CHE 4342 (Topics of Human Biochemistry / Biochemistry 2), I have compiled many notes regarding these processes, both specific and summarized. Below has all three pathways in separate PDFs. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-UAnDzeCk3as5CgQHp4sjKMvw0XNkI5m?usp=sharing

Amino Acid Anabolism - Biosynthesis
The following images display the essential vs non-essential amino acids and an overall diagram for the biosynthetic precursors that form the amino acids. The link cited shows the particular enzymes and mechanistic pathways used for each biosynthesis. Note that many of these pathways converge or correlate heavily with the degradation pathways, so please cross-examine with my Amino Acid Catabolism PDF to see the relationship. With this major connection, it makes understanding

Amino Acid Catabolism
In many Biochemistry 2 courses, such as CHE 4342 at Baylor, a major aspect is Amino Acid Degradation or Catabolism. This form of degradation occurs when carbohydrate and lipid degradation becomes somehow unavailable or insufficient, such as having a very high protein diet. As you will see in the pdf below, amino acids can be catabolized into two groups: Ketone Bodies (and thus are called ketogenic amino acids) Sugar-Carbon Skeleton (and thus are called glucogenic amino acids)

Full PDF of My Personalized Notes of Tim Soderberg's Biological Organic Chemistry Textbook
In the other posts, I separated the personalized notes in two volumes, like how Tim separated his textbook to space out two semesters worth of content. But, I am publishing the entire PDF worth of both semesters in this blog. Enjoy! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me! Organic Chemistry With A Biological Emphasis | Tim Soderberg Part 2
In accordance with the Second Volume of this textbook, I am publishing my notated version of the volume. This volume covers the major portion of Organic Chemistry II under the guise of Biochemistry, so many of the reactions will be both recognizable due to them being introduced in collegiate biology courses, and new due to their level of complexity. Link for Soderberg's Textbook: https://sites.google.com/morris.umn.edu/timsoderberg/home/organic-chemistry-with-a-biological-emp

Organic Chemistry With A Biological Emphasis | Tim Soderberg Part 1
During my final year of High School, I decided to self-study Tim Soderberg's Organic Chemistry Textbook. Unknowingly, I ended up self-studying both Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry because that is how Tim combined both subjects in this particular textbook. Because this subject is so difficult, these resources will be free for all to dissect and understand; though, if you do want help via tutoring, contact me then we can schedule sessions. Though this pdf is quite a large f
